We are looking for a motivated person to join our protein biochemistry group as a postdoctoral scientist at the China Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research Biology Department. He/she will apply biochemistry skills to express, purify and characterize proteins. He will develop biophysical assays including Surface Plasma Resonance (SPR) and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) to analyze binding affinity and catalytic kinetics of protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions. The person will work independently to develop cell based or cell free tools to demonstrate the molecular mechanisms of protein complexes and their functional relevance to diseases of interest. The candidate will be part of the structural biology team to solve protein-protein or protein-ligand complex structure using X-ray crystallographic technique. The candidate will analyze scientific results, provide oral and written reports, and remain current with regard to literature reports and technological developments.
Keyword: CNIBR, NIBR ShanghaiCandidates must hold a Ph.D in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Structural Biology or related field and have been well treated in protein, biophysics and structural biology laboratories. Expertise in expression protein from E.coli, baculovirus and mammalian cells is required. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in characterizing protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions and must be familiar with Biacore and ITC technologies. The candidate should also have experience in LC/MS, ELISA, HTRF and alphascreen enzymatic assays. The successful candidate is expected to have strong work ethic, excellent oral and written communication in English, and ability to function in an interdisciplinary team setting are essential.
